The weight of the door is only 850gm to minimise the possibility of RSI and ULD.
Hatch doors are manufactured from clear cast acrylic, with the integral seals being made from a silicone extrusion. The life expectancy is very good, usually three months, but limited by wear.
The doors have a very good resistance to attack from IMS and sanitising agents.
